Human Health & Ecological Risk Assessment
Risks are ubiquitous in our daily lives. Although we have an intuitive sense about the relative risks of different hazards, decisions about whether these risks warrant greater attention often require a more formal analysis than instinctive judgments about risk. Risk assessment is the process of quantifying and characterizing human health and ecological risks from different agents. Risk assessment involves four key steps: hazard identification, exposure assessment, dose-response assessment, and risk characterization.
E Risk Sciences, LLP has extensive experience evaluating risks to the general public, workers, and animal species from a host of chemicals and other stressors in the environment, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs), heavy metals, persistent and bioaccumulative chemicals, and microbial agents. Our risk analyses include individual and population-level assessments and often utilize probabilistic techniques to account for potential sources of variability and uncertainty in risk estimates.
